2011 Junior Indoor Update
Tartans entered a mixed team in the Sydney Indoor Hockey Association under 13 competition played in fourth term 2011. The team stepped up from under 11s last season, took on some new players and had some who were still under 11.
In a hard competition the team came in fourth and had to face the undefeated Stripey Stars in the semi-final. The round result (5 – 1 loss) did not deter the team and they scored first to lead 1 – 0. The game was tight until the last 5 minutes, when the representative experience of the Stripey Stars players shone through giving them a well deserved 4 – 1 victory. Congratulations to our team on a well played season.

The 7A Anacondas were minor premiers and premiers, with a 2 – 1 win over the Bosco Blueberries in the grand final. These teams were close all year and it was a well deserved win to the Anacondas. The 7A Angels came in 5th at the end of the season and took out the 7A consolation grand final with a 1 – 0 win over Bosco Rascals in golden goal extra time.
The fourth grade Cobras finished the season in second place, but were first into the grand final with a close 1 – 0 victory over minior premiers RSL Tricky Sticks in the semi finals. They faced up against RSL Tricky Sticks again in the grand final. It was another close game, with both teams having chances but finishing 0 – 0 at full time. 15 minutes sudden death extra time was played and the teams still could not be split. They were declared joint premiers.
The third grade Titans began the season as underdogs, a team made up mostly of primary school aged girls playing in a competition which was open to girls up to year 9 in high school. They had a season which exceeded all expectations and finished as minor premiers. They progressed to the grand final where they went down fighting 1 – 0 to Bosco Blazers in a hard fought game. The winning goal was only scored 40 seconds from the end of the game.
The second grade Cupcakes were promoted after being joint premiers in third grade last year. They had ups and downs during the year. They finished as minor premiers, but in an upset lost their semi-final to RSL Roos. They came back to form in the final and finished the season with a bang, defeating RSL Roos 1 – 0 in the grand final.
Congratulations to all our junior players, coaches, managers and parents. We had 5 junior teams playing in the competitive grades this season and all of them played on grand final day, taking out 3 premierships.

Congratulations to the under 11 team which won the 11/2s division. The team won 5 out of 6 round games losing only to Parramatta. The final was between Sutherland and Parramatta. Nil all at full time, still nil all after 10 minutes of golden goal extra time and then Sutherland prevailed 2-1 in penalty strokes. Tartans was represented by Paris, Naomi, Kaleah and Elizabeth. A big thanks to coaches Leah (a senior second grade Tartan) and Erin.
