Junior Hockey

2015 Season

For the 2015 season the Sydney South Hockey Association will again have 4 age based grades and 2 open grades.  We will again have teams competing in each grade.  See the Registrations Tab for registration details for the 2015 season.

2014 Season

In 2014 we fielded 10 junior teams in the Sutherland Shire Women’s Hockey Association Competition.  We had a 1st grade side, two 2nd grade sides, one U13 team, two U11 teams, 2 U9 teams and 2 U7 teams.

Junior Club

Tartans Hockey Club participates in the junior competition run by the Sutherland Shire Hockey Assocation.  Tartans has been participating in the junior competition since the 1970s. Some of our original junior players still play for Tartans and their children are now also playing with the club.

Girls of all ages and boys to the age of 13 play in the junior hockey competitions.  Teams are fielded in Under 7s (modified hockey on a quarter field for the youngest players), Under 9s(7 a side played on half a field) and full field juniors.   To find out more about Under 7s and Under 9s, please click on the tabs to the left.

Full field junior hockey has 11 players from each side on the field at one time.  It  is for players from the under 11 age group upwards.   Teams participate in 2 age divisions and 2 open divisions

Under 11s  and Under 13s games are usually played at Jenola Hockey Fields, corner of Kingsway and Gannons Road, Caringbah on Saturday mornings with first grade juniors and second grade juniors playing a mix of games on artificial turf at Sylvania Hockey Park and Moorebank Hockey Complex with some games on grass on Saturday mornings at Jenola.

Tartans junior players are regularly selected in representative sides and we currently have one of our junior first grade players in the NSW Under 15 state team.
