Under 7s hockey is modified hockey for our youngest players. Girls and boys aged under 7 on 1 January (and turning 5 before 31 July of the current season) play in mixed teams. It is a great introduction to the game of hockey, giving the players the opportunity to learn some of the basic skills. For the first half of the season, the U7 program consists of a skills based program where the children rotate through three different drills to teach them the skills of hockey. They then get to play a 15 – 20 minute game against another team. In the second half of the season the U7 teams play two 15 – 20 minute games each Saturday morning.
Under 7s is a six a side game played on one quarter of a hockey field. The competition is non competitive and games and skills sessions usually run between 8am and 9am on Saturday mornings. All Under 7s games are played at Jenola Hockey Fields, corner of Kingsway and Gannons Road, Caringbah.
Rules for Under 7s can be found at HOW TO PLAY MINKEY
